Hardenbergia violacea is an attractive climbing plant whose branches twist around supports to climb. Dark, glossy green leaves  75-100 mm in length. Purple pea-shaped flowers occur in heavy pendant clusters in spring.
It is moderately vigorous but rarely causes damage.
